The Howard County Dental Hygienists' Association (HCDHA) is a local component of the Maryland Dental Hygienists' Association (MDHA) which is a constituent of the American Dental Hygienists' Association (ADHA). The Association is a professional organization which represents registered dental hygienists who live or practice in Howard County.
Nestled in central Maryland, this component has been in existence since the early 1970's. We are active in educating our local community of the importance of quality preventative dental care to improve total health.
The HCDHA has adopted the mission statement of the ADHA: "To improve the public's total health, the mission of the American Dental Hygienists' Association is to advance the art and science of dental hygiene by ensuring access to quality oral health care, increasing awareness of the cost-effective benefits of prevention, promoting the highest standards of dental hygiene education, licensure, practice and research and representing and promoting the interests of dental hygienists."
The HCDHA has adopted the vision statement of the ADHA: "Our Promise to the Public We Serve Dental hygiene is an integral component of interdisciplinary health care. Cognizant of the profession's responsibilities in education, licensure, practice, research and ethics, dental hygiene's promise to all people is to provide and ensure access to quality preventative and therapeutic oral health care, in order to improve the total health of the public."
