HCDHA has a Community Health Committee which plans and implements community events throughout Howard County. We have had many successful events and are planning more for the future. Our members are very committed to increasing the community's access to oral health information. The variety of our events will continue to grow. Would YOU like to join in? Please contact Maura Ordovensky for more information: Maura Ordovensky or 410-992-0697.

Pizza with Santa community event will be held on December 8, 2007. This is a fundraiser event for the firestation where children in the community come to the firehouse to eat pizza and desserts and to see and speak with Santa Clause. HCDHA has been at this event for many years and donates and offers "Toothprints" Identification kits for the attending children's teeth. This year HCDHA will bring a display with information about dental care for children and adolescents. Dental information and toothbrushes will be distributed to the children. HCDHA members who participated last year were Pat Sullivan, Deanna Benicewicz, Kristen Blair and Kathy Mancino.

Photos below were taken at last years event.

February 2008 is National Children's Dental Health Month. HCDHA will observed this month with our Library Window display at the Central Columbia Library on Little Patuxent Parkway. Our display will be on exhibit the entire month of March. One Saturday in March (TBA), HCDHA will sponsor an event offering free toothbrushes to the children at the library. This will be coordinated with a storytelling program at the library so that we can reach a large group of children and provide information about good dental health to them and their parents. HCDHA members who assisted with this event last year were Pat Sullivan, Deanna Benicewicz, Carol Caiazzo and Kathy Mancino. Photos below are from last years event.

Adopt-A-Road
~
Since 1999 , the HCDHA adopted a portion of Brighton Dam Road between Ten Oaks Road and Highland Road. Many hygienists and family members contributed to the clean up our adopted road four times a year. This was a wonderful way to give back to our community. However, the HCDHA has decided to volunteer their time with other needy organizations now.

The Association thanks those of you who contributed your time on this project in an effort to serve the Clarksville community in Howard County.

Alzheimer's Association Memory Walk took place on Saturday, October 16, 2004, at Lake Elkhorn in Columbia. Melisa Millard, Team Captain-410-531-6514, Melisa@hcdha.org

Thank you very much for your support of the Greater Maryland Chapter of the Alzheimer's Association. The Memory Walk was held on October 16, 2004, at Lake Elkhorn in Columbia. It was a beautiful autumn day with cool morning temperatures and sunshine. Our team, The Howard County Dental Hygienists' Association, spent many weeks campaigning to raise awareness and obtain donations for families that have been affected by this debilitating disease. We exceeded our goal of $2000 and raised $2847. Exceeding our goal was made possible by your support and generosity. Thank you for assisting in this worthy cause. For more information about this organization, contact the Alzheimer's Association.
