MYPAC
is a separate organization from the MDHA and was established
as a political action committee. The MYPAC Committee's purpose
is to raise money that is used to contribute to the campaigns
of various legislators that are particularly considerate of
dental hygiene issues. The legislators that we support financially
are those we regard as allies in the Maryland legislature.
Nationwide,
the profession of Dental Hygiene is being challenged. We have
to protect our educational standards, scope of practice, access
to care and other important issues to further the advancement
of our profession. To do this, it is crucial to be visible in
the legislative circuit by donating political action money.
Another way to show your support is to volunteer in your local
legislator's campaign. Be involved by stuffing envelopes, passing
out political flyers, or join local political clubs. Pass the
word that you are a Registered Dental Hygienist and tell them
your concerns.
