Requirements
for License Renewal
For
every two year license renewal period, Maryland Registered Dental
Hygienists are required to complete the following:
Thirty
credit hours of continuing education bi-annual to be completed by December 31st .
Two
credit hours are mandatory on Infection Control, following OSHA
standards
(NEW!!!) Two credit hours of Board approved Abuse and Neglect as related to Maryland Law to be completed every othe license renewal period.
Current
CPR certification such as the American Heart Association level
'C', must be maintained. However, certification is not included
in the total thirty credit hours.
Maintain at least 150 hours of clinical practice every three years.
MainA licensee who has received a license within 6 months after graduation is not subject to the continuing education requirememnts for the first renewal cycled following initial licensure.
The Maryland
State Board of Dental Examiners has passed a new regulation for
Registered Dental Hygienists that goes into effect for the renewal
year of 2005. All licensees must complete 30 hours of continuing
education to renew their license. Fifteen hours may be self-study
or on-line courses. F or more information on this new regulation

through the HCDHA. Participants must register at least three days
before the meeting by phone, e-mail or online to the contact person,
unless otherwise noted. An additional $5 charge will be assessed at
the door if participants have not pre-registered.
